After several attempts to contact him, friends had to kick down the door to Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow’s Las Vegas home on Nov. 25, where DuBrow was found dead. According to Las Vegas police, DuBrow had been dead six days before being found. The last known contact he had with anyone was a text message he sent to his girlfriend on Nov. 18 reading, “I love you so much.” At press time, the cause of death had not been released. DuBrow was 52.

On another sad note, 26 year-old Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert died in his sleep on Nov. 24. At press time, the cause of death had not been released…. Twenty-one year-old Arsonists Get All The Girls bassist Pat Mason died in his sleep on Nov. 30… On yet another sad note, daredevil/stunt legend Evel Knievel lost his nearly three-year battle with a terminal lung disease known as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Knievel was 69.

John Fogerty plays Nokia Theater on Dec. 7… Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, DevilDriver and Soilwork follow suit. Dec. 8… Rob Zombie is at The Palladium on Dec. 9… Vader, Abigail Williams, Cattle Decapitation, Malevolent Creation, Light This City and Veil of Maya hit the Ridglea Theater on Dec. 9… As part of the How the Edge Stole Christmas shows - Drowning Pool, The Donnas and Atreyu come to the Palladium on Dec. 13 in a “Pre-Edge Party,” and Avenged Sevenfold, Flyleaf, Hellyeah, Seether and The Toadies play the real thing at Nokia on Dec. 15… Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform two shows (3 PM and 8 PM) at the American Airlines Center on Dec. 28…

Van Morrison will be at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on Dec. 30 (Tickets $150 – $225 though!)… The Foo Fighters are confirmed for the American Airlines Center on Jan. 23… Exodus descends on the Ridglea Theater Jan. 25… Van Halen is scheduled for the American Airlines Center on Jan. 26… Don Dokken and Queensryche are set to play The Palladium on Feb. 16, while Pat Travers is at the Ridglea Theater the same night…

Alanis Morrissette and Matchbox Twenty are set for Nokia on Feb. 29… King Diamond’s herniated disc has forced him to cancel this spring’s tour with Kreator, Leaves Eyes and Cellador. For DFW metal fans, The Ridglea Theatre in Fort Worth is set to have a stellar new year. So far they have confirmed shows by Doro, UFO and Candlemass. Watch this space in the coming months for dates.

Highway Chile, one of the greatest underground bands of the 80’s, are planning to release Keeper Of The Earth next month. Judging from what they have streaming at www.myspace.com/highwaychileofficial, it’s gonna be worth checking out… Airbourne’s f*#king awesome Runnin’ Wild hits streets via Roadrunner Records on Jan. 29. (So far, Airbourne has toured their native Australia with The Rolling Stones, Motley Crué and Motorhead. Good work if you can get it…)… Ayreon’s eagerly awaited follow-up to 2004’s magnificent The Human Equation is a two-CD affair strangely titled 01011001, which will see stateside release on Jan. 29…

Brainstorm’s Downburst also hits the streets Jan. 29… Rob Rock’s new album is Garden Of Chaos. In related news, Rock’s late ‘80’s / early 90’s band, Driver, will have their debut, full-length album finally reissued in re-recorded format by Metal Heaven Records in the coming months… Death Angel’s Killing Season drops Feb. 26… Benedictum’s Seasons Of Tragedy will feature guest appearances by Dio guitarist Craig Goldy and former Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson… Extreme has reformed and is writing a new album… Loverboy’s new one is Just Getting Started… Expect to see a six-inch action figure of Motorhead’s Lemmy in Feb. (I’m surprised it took THIS long!)
