Vampire Lounge - Bigger, better
OK, well not bigger… but they’re remodeling the place to make it better. Better for bands; better for fans. Among other changes, they’re moving the stage to the back with easy access for acts to load in, and to open up the space for fans. They’re to close Aug. 9 for three weeks; reopening in September.

Everything’s cool at the Ridglea
People were freaking out recently after reading in the Fort Worth Star Telegram that the OWNERS of the Ridglea (Wesley and Richard LEASE the building) were behind on their property taxes… and the City was about to foreclose on them… the OWNERS. This has happened before and, like before, the owners paid the taxes. All is now alive and well at the Ridglea, though Wesley and Richard were most unhappy about the negative publicity. So… spread the word that everything is OK!

Dreamworld Music Complex
This venue closed many months back, then John Tunnell took it over again. Now he’s sold it to new owners. They’re remodeling and reportedly opening it in September.

Memorial Concert for musician
There’s a Memorial Benefit at the Lone Star County Club on Aug. 30, for Ben Cooksey, who passed away recently. He was the bass player for Hit ‘N Run. The benefit concert is to raise money for a grave marker.

Congratulations KNON!
The little radio station that could... and has… is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. This independent, nonprofit, community radio station (at 89.3) has always had something for everyone - from the heaviest music (that no commercial station will touch), to blues, jazz, country, folk and various ethnic segments. See p. 6 for those “heavy” hours.

Russ Martin blows it/up
And speaking of radio… and personalities, 47-year old Russ Martin made it to the front page of the Dallas Morning News on July 27, with almost a full-page write up after being arrested for an alleged assault on a 27-year old woman. According to NBC 5, he was charged with “aggravated assault with bodily injuries with a deadly weapon.” His concealed handgun license was suspended, and he was temporarily taken off the air on KLLI-FM. The alleged assault took place at his 8,600 square-foot home in Southlake, valued at $1.5 million. (At least he had no problem funding that $10,000 bond!)

They’ve developed a solid five-year plan and are dedicated to making Club Dada a warm, friendly and fun place. (Scott Mankoff)
