The only significant injury reported was a female attendee’s broken arm... In keeping with Dave Grohl’s doctor’s orders, Foo Fighters have rescheduled their two sold out shows at the (awesome) Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver from July 14 and 15 to Sept. 8 and 9.
Good vibes through activism…
Otep Shamaya, the powerful singer and brainchild of the group Otep, not only engages fans with her powerful music and message, but also her fierce dedication to activism. She recently become involved with Carbonrally.com, a web-based activism platform offering people a fun, simple and social way to have an impact on climate change with teams working to reduce CO2. After Otep created her Rally team, within 48 hours it had 200 members and is now at 600.
On July 24 at Champs Sports at Times Square in New York, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and David “Phoenix” Farrell accepted a $25,000 check from the Major League Baseball Authentic Collection and Champs Sports to benefit Music For Relief (www.musicforrelief.org.) The band is working with the organization to help victims of natural disasters and prevent the environmental consequences of global warming,.
GWAR is working on new material, which will have lots of political satire to commemorate the upcoming elections.
Releases…
Clutch’s first-ever live DVD, Full Fathom Five is set for release on Aug. 12 along with a live companion CD, Full Fathom Five: Audio Field Recordings. All tracks were recorded and filmed in late 2007 and early 2008 in New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Denver and Australia. The combo will be available through Clutch’s newly-formed label, Weathermaker Music. “Texan Book Of The Dead” will be the first single.
Metallica’s Death Magnetic will be available on Sept. 16… AC/DC’s Dirty Rhythm will finally be released Oct. 21, sold only through Wal-Mart (yuck!) Exodus has re-recorded their all-time classic debut Bonded By Blood. (Why I don’t know.) It has been re-titled Let There Be Blood with a tentative Oct. release planned.
On a personal note…
Varsity Fan Club? The Jonas Brothers? The return of the New Kids On The Block? If another boy band pops up in my face everywhere I look, I’m gonna find the person most directly responsible and punch them in the throat.
Stay cool!
