Band news
SiK reports one of their songs is part of a CD with a number of major label acts. The CD comes free in the May issue of Metal Edge Magazine —now on stands… Overscene is celebrating their CD release at the Ridglea on April 4. They report that they’re going on tour with Sevendust, Saliva, and Neverset from April 9 to May 16…. George Call (ASKA) is joining OMEN as vocalist on their upcoming European tour... Max Cady is touring with Fu Manchu and Burning Brides.
Watch for new band Hot Ash with vocalist Kevin Dell Greer and drummer Mike Pritchett (both Strangers), guitarist Brad Wiley and bassist Mike Stahl (Minds Eye), and Rick Fulton (local band TYR, keyboards)... Yet another tribute band… this time reflecting 90’s grunge bands called Taste of Flannel. It includes Dallas area musician Scott LePage (Hades/Non-Fiction).

Birthdays
Happy Birthday wishes on April 8 to Jill Jackson — HB contributing writer and local band supporter. She’s celebrating at O’Riley’s on April 4.
Drummer April Samuels celebrates her birthday as only April would — with her band 49th Vibration’s official debut at City Tavern on May 2. Other members are Troy Thibodeaux and David Harbour. See 49th Vibration and April’s other band Bullitt during the Deep Ellum Arts Festival

Closings
Four more clubs have closed this past month in either Deep Ellum or the Exposition area — The Dark Side Lounge, The Elm Street Bar, Club One and Sloppyworld. But there are still more clubs per square mile in Deep Ellum than any other area in Dallas.

Deep Ellum Arts Festival
On a more positive note… the 14th Annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival takes place April 4 – 6, with over 100 artists, 65 original bands on four stages. See www.DeepEllumArts Festival.com for more information.

Doomfest a success
This three-day event brought forth doom bands from far and wide to the Across the Street Bar. Congratulations to Justin DeLord (That Which Passes) who organized the event. (see Live Reviews). Another is planned over the July 4 weekend.

MS Benefit
Many area bands are playing for the Dallas Rockers 4 MS benefit at the Vampire Lounge April 18 – 19. All proceeds will be donated to the Dallas Multiple Sclerosis Society.

15 years and counting!
Next month is HB’s 15-Year Anniversary. Can you believe it?
