When Greek power metalers Firewind made their Dallas debut, they had no idea of the huge reception they’d receive. “Dallas was by far the best crowd on the tour,” notes guitarist Gus G. “With all the technical problems with my guitars at first and the keyboards not working all night, this should have been our worst show ever, but the fans’ reaction ended up making it one of the best.”

After a final attempt at getting the keyboards to work, keyboardist/guitarist Bob Katsionis had the line of the night when he stated, “Keyboards are for pussies anyway,” and just played guitar the rest of the concert. After the show, Firewind members met with fans at the merchandise booth, signing autographs and taking photos. Once the line was finished, Gus and drummer Mark Cross went out with a small group of fans to a local pizza place.

Legendary Boston guitarist, Tom Scholz met with fans before their incredible show at Nokia. Tom and his lovely wife Kim stepped out for some fresh air after sound check and noticed some fans waiting by the back fence. Kim collected various items and brought them to Tom before heading back inside. Tom signed everything and was personally thanking the fans for coming out, when Kim returned with guitar pics. After the show, Tommy DeCarlo (vocals) and Robert Sweet (guitar/vocals) also met with fans. Both said this was a dream come true because they are such huge Boston fans. Sweet’s having SO much fun onstage, that he constantly has to remind himself this isn’t his show. He doesn’t want to do too much or steal someone else’s spotlight. When some Stryper fans asked about his wife (who’s been battling cancer), Sweet replied, “I’m doing this for her. She wanted me here. She told me, “Don’t let my sickness take this opportunity from you.”

Our thoughts are with the Sweet family.
