It seems like all I do is work, but I skipped off to Chicago last month (where I used to live) and had a fantastic time seeing new sights (including the Chicago Marathon) and old friends. What a fabulous city Chicago has become! If they could just “heat it” during the winter.
Lots going on in the D/FW area for November. Read all about it in this issue.

Who’s playing? Where? When?
What is up with Dallas area clubs? Why do they not advertise any place anymore? I see less and less advertising of local shows by clubs in the DFW area. We music fans need to know what bands are playing where and what time their sets are. Flyer’s hanging in the clubs don’t help (if you’re not in there to see them), and not everyone has a My Space page. While bands need to help by promoting their gigs, clubs could make more money at the bar and door if they advertised the upcoming shows. Advertising doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg [not in HB at least Ed.] and can make a real difference to everyone involved in the DFW music scene by helping support local bands.
Times are hard, and people are budgeting their entertainment dollars. Without ads in local publications like the Harder Beat, people don’t know where to see their favorite bands for an evening of great music.
Hey clubs. you need to advertise for your patrons and for the bands that help you make your money.

Thanks again for the article (by Marissa Bruce) in the October issue. You’re the best! We’re on tour now (October) and did the sneak-preview screening of our Mistress of the Dark video at Florida’s Screamfest. It received a standing ovation from the crowd!

Exodus’ Gary Holt a hit
I got the issue with Gary’s (Holt, Exodus) interview (with Dale Lammers).
Thank you very much; it’s very helpful and I am sending it to the band and their label as well.

Missing Parts & Pieces help
Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We appreciate your dedication and the space that you have for us in your newspaper. We are a local band. Death-power metal is how we call our style… and we need a bass player. (See ad in MP&P section). Thanks for your time and support and keep alive the heavy metal.
