John Fogerty
TSO
Legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist John Fogerty signed autographs for some lucky fans who arrived at Nokia Theater early in the day before his show. A very gracious Fogerty walked his wife and young daughter over to the backstage door before meeting with admirers by the fence. He took time to personalize each CD booklet and ask where we came from. It was nice to see a true rock icon still make time for his fans.

One of the many highlights of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s yearly Christmas spectacular is singer/actor Bart Shatto’s rendition of “Old City Bar.” Each year he dresses up as a bum and nearly steals the show with his performance. I’d heard rumors that Shatto actually gets dressed and stays in character all day, even going so far as to wander around outside the arena where people full of the holiday spirit actually give him money, not knowing who he really is. This was the first year I’ve actually seen him. I was inside the American Airlines Center about 45 minutes before show time. I had just made my way to my seat when I saw Shatto, in full costume, wandering around the floor area, occasionally taking an empty seat. When he sat in one near me I went over and shook his hand, wishing him a Merry Christmas before he again wandered off unnoticed. After the show, Shatto joined the rest of the cast for the traditional meet and greet.

Following a great performance at the House of Blues, members of Velvet Revolver — Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner — signed autographs for fans who braved the cold. Each was extremely personable, signing multiple items before getting on the bus. A couple of fans mentioned that the elusive Scott Weiland (who headed to the bus immediately following the show) also signed a couple things for them.

[Note, fans were able to go to a special Meet and Greet with the band beforehand for reportedly a mere $300! — Ed.]
