Vampire Lounge closes
According to a notice on MySpace, the Vampire Lounge closed the end of April. They thanked the bands, their staff and supporters of the club.

Radio roulette… again
On April 27, 93.3 The Bone became FM 93.3 Quality Rock. According to a press release, the station will “feature great bands like Dave Matthews Band, REM, Coldplay, The Police, U2, Van Morrison and more.” [Hey, we just report the news. — Linda]

Our condolences to:
Skid Dickson (Rob’s Billards and Sports Bar), on the death of his wife, Bobbie on April 21. They had been married 31 years… Also to Tony Latham (who books Rob’s), whose father died recently….
And to HB’s Kevin White, whose awesome Maine Coon cat, Ringo, recently headed to “Kitty Heaven.” Ringo was 16.

Band news
Orgasmatron’s last show was April 15…. Bill Engfer has joined Phantom X. I caught Strangleweed’s Kenn Younger on a VH1 competition. After making it through several rounds, he was eliminated on April 26. Man, that guy is a promoter. He’s always getting himself or his band into something or the other. I keep trying to get him to sell ads for the HB!
Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia was to undergo emergency surgery on his neck on May 4. He had been having severe pain in his arms in recent years. A few days after the band’s performance at the Keep It True festival in Germany, his left arm went totally numb. You can check on Mike’s progress on the band’s Myspace page.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Kevin Edwards of Kevin’s Head — April 28. The band had planned to celebrate by playing the Vampire Lounge on May 2, but that, of course, didn’t happen.
Indian Trail Recording Studio’s Alex Gerst has just finished tracking drums for the new Aghora album.

Doom Daze
Don’t forget, Dallas Doom Daze II is May 8 – 10 at the Across The Street Bar in Dallas.

Joe’s Garage tribute weekend
Head to the Rockstar in Fort Worth, on May 22 – 24, for the three-day tribute to Abb Greig, who for many years in the 80’s and 90’s booked about every up-and-coming touring band destined to fame and helped out many, many local metal bands. Abb’s wife Ruth has asked that money raised go to a fund for his grandchildren’s college. It’s $5 at the door, and there will be special edition T-shirts for sale.
Abb was killed on January 12 by two teenagers, whom, typically, he was helping out. See the Rockstar’s ad on page 12 for a list of metal’s “Who’s Who,” that are playing during the three-day event.
A big “welcome” to O’Riley’s new soundman, Mark Wade.
