Seth McKinney - Making Dallas look better! |

“I painted for 31 hours straight, with an hour nap here and there,” and that was just the smaller mural at the front entrance!” he exclaims. The total space covered (by the time Seth is done) will be well over a 2,000 square feet. Michael Roth (Absolute owner) has graciously given the artist free creative reign. The expanding artwork (made of an acrylic and oil mixture) has transformed the atmosphere of the cornucopia rehearsal space. More of Seth’s work can be seen inside City Tavern, located in downtown Dallas. Among various other projects, McKinney has even painted a large-scale beach scene for a nursing home. Along with his full-time occupation as a painter, he also makes animations and sculptures. Drawing seems to be is in his blood. As early as kindergarten, Seth was getting in trouble for drawing on walls and the backs of his assignments - the beginnings of an artist at a tender age. One of his artistic influences is the whimsical art of symmetry master, M.C. Escher - “although, I’m trying to expand to a more classic/realistic style,” Seth notes, while looking over his fantasy designs. McKinney’s future goals are to collaborate with musicians on their music videos. To reach Seth, pick up one of his business cards in the lobby of Absolute Rehearsals, or you can e-mail him at SethMcK.01@gmail.com. As with all artists, motivation is key. As McKinney states, ”History is waiting.” |
