NY hearts Denton, kinda
If you didn’t hear about it, Denton, the Indie Music Capital of Texas, made the New York Times last month. It was a great feature, giving our fair city wicked east coast props. Thanks New York. Hope it was as good for you as it was for us. Come visit, drink some Shiners — and bring pizza. Seriously. There are plenty of great bands for y’all to enjoy all summer long.

Hailey’s
Speaking of great shows, Hailey’s has a rootin’ roster of wranglers this month from both sides of the Red River. Seattle’s Unwed Sailor takes the stage with Sybis and local favorites The Demigs. Other shows you should not dare miss include Mom, Ella Minnow plays with The Black and White Years and R2B2, Trebuchet and Siren City.

Rubber Gloves
If you’re looking for a reason to nock back a dozen Lonestars, don’t miss Mount Righteous’ CD release party at Rubber Gloves. This eleven-piece group will rock you properly along with Fishboy and Death! to Doom Riders… Like it rough? Come get your effing face rocked off with The Destro, The Ocean and Liar of the Minotaur… Other top shows this month at RGRS feature The New Blood playing with The Rival Gang, David Francis Doyle and Nouns Group… Searching for an interesting show? Check out Weird Weeds and Shiny Around the Edges.

Cats and Dogs! Don’t forget about your favorite four-legged friends. On June 14, bring your dog to the bar and get sloppy. All proceeds benefit the Denton Humane Society. Bark indeed.

Dan’s Silver Leaf and The Boiler Room
In the mood for something on the alt-country side of life? Direct your boots in the direction of Dan’s this month. Paul Slavens, Eleven Hundred Springs, Big Daddy Alright and Bob Schneider have respected shows.
When was the last time you danced the night away with Texas’ best polka band, Brave Combo? Well, amigo, that is too long. You can czech ‘em at The Boiler Room performing with Grasshoppe’s Dying Word.
