Free Ranger tickets at benefit
Be sure to come out to the Lone Star Country Club on Sunday, March 16 for a great time while helping out the Epilepsy Foundation of Dallas. A $7 donation covers live music all day (and night) beginning at 11 AM and lasting ‘til 2 AM. There’s free food, plus the first 500 people who donate will receive two tickets to a Rangers game.

Performing bands are Zenabi, Mr. Troll, Borius, Citizen Erased, Pelican Skeleton, Fish Fry Bingo, Black Wax Midget, A Partial Freakout, So & So, Late Expectations, Kick Your Donkey, Catfish Whiskey, Zen Tree, and Mount Righteous (an eleven-piece band who will be playing outside during setups). Note: all money raised will go to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Rob’s Billiards and Sports Bar is also hosting a benefit — for Clyde “Mader” Mitchell, who played with Steppenwolf and Delbert McClinton. It’s on March 9.

Wedding Bells
Congrats and best wishes to Music Go Round’s Larry Goldberg and Janice Boudreau, who married at the Lantana Lodge in Pilot Point, TX, on January 26. They honeymooned in San Antonio.

Another year younger and...
“Happy Birthday” wishes to Harder Beat’s Kim Polen (Kimber) who turns another year younger on March 25. Included in her many celebrations are a party at O’Rileys on March 22, which also marks the return of Muthalode.

Bands beware
We received an email from a band that was booked at a club (that’s been open not too many months). While this band usually has a contract, this was a last-minute booking so they went ahead and took it. At the end of the night, they did not get paid what they were quoted, the booking person was M.I.A and, finally, they discovered the check wouldn’t clear. (It did finally clear later, but after much hassle on the band’s part.
Bands: Get a signed contract. And unless you’ve dealt with the club before, specify getting get paid in cash at the end of the night. Maybe local bands should do like the big boys (national acts) do. They get paid before they go on stage.

Sad to report
Our condolences to Rick Perry (TMA, Gammacide, Puncture) who’s mother, Henriette Maria Perry, passed away recently. Our thoughts are with you, Rick.

In the studio
Little Green Men has been working on a new CD with Bart Rose at Ft. Worth Sound. Mixing will be completed in the next couple of weeks... then off to mastering. Look for a tentative release date in April.

Sin Serum has a new drummer - Jeff Jones. Go check out the new lineup.

Music fans
Watch your drinks when you’re at a club. We’re heard of several incidents where someone’s drink has obviously been “slipped” something. The people affected have hallucinated and become violently ill for several hours. Keep your drink in sight!
