The Hourly Radio
Always on tour (well, almost always)

Hearing the Hourly Radio’s song “Please Forget,” one could argue that they’re on the cusp of getting national radio play and “making it.” By opening for great acts such as VHS or BETA and Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah, The Hourly Radio is kicking more ass than Steven Seagal in Under Siege II: Dark Territory.

However guitarist, Ryan Short, is able to remain modest. “It takes a lot more work and personal sacrifice than anyone outside of a touring band could ever dream of. And we are far from ‘making it.’ I’m just personally really proud of the fact that, together, we’re making a real go at it despite knowing all along that we most likely won’t ever ‘make it.’”

Besides Ryan, the band is Aaron Clossen, (vocals/guitar), Adam Vanderkolk (drums) and Tim Jansen (bass).

THR’s touring schedule is almost non-stop. They’re becoming known for their relentless tours and their equally relentless shows. In fact they’ve logged more miles than Jenna Jamison and Traci Lords combined.

“We’ve crossed the US in a van about six times and the UK twice,” Ryan explains. “When I look at it all, added up, it seems impossible because right now - I can’t even imagine driving from Dallas to New York again.

“But we just take it one three-hour shift at a time. And one show at a time...Next thing you know, we’ve played every major city. Then you do it again. Hopefully by the fourth time you’ve done it, people start to notice,”

What was the group’s take of jolly old London?

“London is amazing! They have public urinals on the corners,” he exclaims. None of us ever thought we’d ever play two sold-out shows at the same place that Oasis played during their first London show. We’ve been very fortunate.”

So what’s next for these die-hards?

“We’re releasing a new single in October, Ryan notes. “We’re gearing up for one last big tour with Iamx. We’ll be back home for the holidays and finish recording record number two. And then do it all again in 2008.”

During the middle of their tour, they’ll make a stop in Dallas for a show. You can see them live at Club Dada on November 6. Be sure to enjoy the show. But DO NOT ask them about any paternity suits. As Ryan jokingly notes, “They’re pending, and our lawyers have advised us not to comment.”
